Formats Overview
Constructed, Draft, and More!
Battle for Sularia was specifically designed for one-versus-one constructed and up to four-player draft formats straight out of single starter set. However, the game can also be played in other formats, such as multi-player, team-versus-team, and larger draft play. Anything beyond the one-versus-one constructed or 4-player draft, simply requires additional starter sets. Expansion packs can be included to add even more options!

This series will be updated in the near future. In the meantime, the videos listed here are to help with learning how to play the main format—standard constructed.
Standard Constructed
Formats – Part: I
One-Versus-One Constructed Format
This is the core game play format, commonly referred to as the standard constructed or “1-vs-1” constructed format for Battle for Sularia. Players can find the rules for this format in either the How to Play section of the website as well as a more comprehensive description in the Learn to Play Rules Guide.
Cube Draft
Formats – Part: II
The Setup
Battle for Sularia can be played in a draft format commonly referred to as “cube draft.” During a cube, draft players select one card from a randomized “pack” and pass that pack to their neighboring player. Each copy of The Battle Begins or Reign of Terror starter sets allows up to four players to participate in a draft. If more than four players are present, then a second group, referred to as a “pod” of players, will be formed and an additional starter set will be required. Each pod should be as close to even in player count as possible.
Pack Arrangement
The Battle Begins:
Two packs of 15 for each player.
The Battle Begins + Blood, Profit, and Glory:
Two packs of 20 and one pack of 19 for each player.
Reign of Terror:
Two packs of 18 and one pack of 16 for each player.
The Battle Begins + Blood, Profit, and Glory + Reign of Terror:
Three packs of 20 for each player.
Deck Building Rules
A player’s draft deck can be a mixture of any number of different factions and there is no limit on construction point costs. The only rule that draft players need to follow for deck building, is that each deck must contain at least 40 cards.
Draft Round
During the draft round, each player chooses one random pack, and selects one card from the pack and passes the remainder of the pack to the player on their left. After the last card from the pack has been selected, players begin the second round of draft by selecting their second draft pack and one card from it, passing the remainder of the pack to the player on their right. After the final card from the second draft pack has been selected, each player grabs their third draft pack and selects a card from it. They will pass the remaining cards to the player on the left.
Deck Construction and Game Play
After all cards have been drafted, each player constructs their deck according to the Draft Building Rules listed above. During an actual game of draft, all other rules found in the standard one-versus-one constructed game play must be followed.
Team-Versus-Team, AKA Faction War
Formats – Part: III
The Setup
Faction War is a two-versus-two team format, where each team chooses a faction and plays a game against an opposing faction. Each player on a team will need a copy of either The Battle Begins—to play either the Jotune or Synthien—or Reign of Terror—to play either the Exsularian or Protoan. Blood, Profit, and Glory is optional, but recommended if players are using Reign of Terror.
Game Play
Each team starts the game with 50 health.
During the sularium phase, players may transfer sularium between themselves at a ratio of 2:1.
There is an initiative team and an off-initiative team. The game does not check for a victor until both teams have taken their turn in a round.
